Open Paging Server is currently in a very early beta state and is not yet tested or suitable for production use. This documentation is also very incomplete, it will be completed before the first stable verison (1.0.0) is released. The goal is Winter 2026.

Open Paging Server is a free & open source public address system that runs on existing VoIP infrastructure. Supporting live paging, bells, mass notification, and much more!

Open Paging Server is easy to install and use. A fully working system can be installed in a matter of minutes either directly on a Linux server or in a Docker container. It's written in Python which allows for great flexibility, and has a comprehensive endpoint ecosystem with offical and third-party modules supported by it's SDK.

Here is a todo list before 1.0.0, things will be added and removed as we get there.

  • Redo the endpoint SDK for better security
  • New GUI (may be delayed to 2.0.0)
  • Evaluate if live transcoding of audio will work long-term or if files should be transcoded at upload (like other VoIP systems)
